History:
On a small island, flying high above the skies, there resides a magical tree. This is the Heart Tree, which connects the hearts of everyone on Earth and protects the planet. However, there are those that try to destroy the Heart Tree and Earth. For centuries, this role has been filled by the Desert Apostles. The leader, Dune, has attempted time and time again to destroy the Heart Tree and, time and time again, the Heart Tree fought back by granting select girls powers and turning them into Precure.

Fifty years ago, Dune faced one of these Precure, Cure Flower. Cure Flower, or Kaoruko Hanasaki, stopped Dune with the help of a great power called the Heartcatch Mirage, though she lost her powers in the process. Dune went into a deep sleep and for decades everything was peaceful. But this did not last.

Yuri Tsukikage was once a happy and normal child, leading a blissful life with her mother and father. Her father was a botanist and thus Yuri was very interested in plants, visiting a local botanical garden owned by Kaoruko often. Her father decided to go to France to search for the Heart Tree. During this time, he went missing.

Not long after her father went missing, she met a fairy named Cologne, who informed her that she was chosen as the next Precure to battle the newly returned Desert Apostles. She agreed to this, fighting the Desert Apostles and Desertrians - monsters created by the Desert Apostles using wilting Heart Flowers - under the name Cure Moonlight.

She fought the Desert Apostles valiantly and the Apostles took note of her strength. Sabaku, one of the Apostles, created Dark Precure specifically to fight Cure Moonlight. Cologne urged Yuri to find a partner so she wouldn’t have to fight alone. Yuri refused, as Cure Flower had battled Dune on her own years ago. Cologne tried to explain that things were different then and that Moonlight was now up against two strong enemies, where Cure Flower had only one. Yuri did not listen, confident in her own abilities.

Yuri finds out about the Heartcatch Mirage and goes to the Precure Palace to obtain it, only to meet Dark Precure instead. The two fight each other. During the fight, Sabaku appears and Cologne warns Moonlight. Sabaku’s sudden appearance distracts Moonlight enough for Dark Precure to blast her away. Sabaku takes advantage of this opening and attempts to blast Moonlight with energy. Moonlight is about to be hit... When Cologne jumps in front of her, protecting her from the blast. Cologne tells her he’s glad she’s okay and then vanishes while she holds him.

Despite losing Cologne, Moonlight continued to fight against Dark Precure. In the end, she still loses. She tells the two new fairies to run and find a Precure to replace her, which they do. Moonlight’s Precure Seed, which grants her the ability to transform into a Precure, breaks in two and she is almost killed by an attack from Dark Precure, but Coupe, Cure Flower’s fairy, manages to save her. Though she returns home alive, Yuri now has no fairy, a broken Precure Seed and a wilted Heart Flower, making it impossible for her to transform into Cure Moonlight again. Yuri tried her best to go back to a normal life

Meanwhile, the two fairies, Chypre and Coffret, manage to find the new Precure. The first is the granddaughter of Kaoruko, Tsubomi Hanasaki, who becomes Cure Blossom. The second is Tsubomi’s neighbor and classmate, Erika Kurumi, who becomes Cure Marine. Erika turned out to be the younger sister of Momoka, Yuri’s best friend.

The two don’t discover Yuri’s identity as Cure Moonlight until she saves them from Dark Precure, who reveals it.

Yuri ends up meeting Tsubomi and Erika again on several occasions, despite her efforts to lead a normal life. Most of the time, she ends up saving the two when they’re in a pinch. The two even try to get her to become their mentor, though she refuses each time.

Thanks to Erika and Tsubomi’s efforts, the Heart Tree is restored enough to give birth to a new fairy, Potpourri. Potpourri at first thought Yuri was to be his partner, but Yuri quickly shot him down. Instead, the student council president of Tsubomi and Erika’s school ends up becoming the newest Precure. Her name is Itsuki Myoudouin and she becomes Cure Sunshine.

The Desert Apostles are given a new power by Sabaku; the Dark Bracelet. With the Dark Bracelet, they are able to power up the Desertrians significantly and control them directly. With this new power, they almost manage to defeat the Precure. The Precure still come out on top, but realize that they need to become stronger. They hear about the Heartcatch Mirage and decide to try and obtain it. They are taken to the Precure Palace where the Heartcatch Mirage is held, together with Kaoruko and Yuri. Once they’re inside, Kaoruko reveals the test they have to pass to earn the Mirage. The test is to defeat the previous Precure. In this case it would be Cure Flower, but as she lost her powers, the mysterious man who saved the Precure from Dark Precure takes her place. They manage to defeat him and the man is revealed to actually be Coupe, Kaoruko’s fairy partner.

The three reveal they had hoped the Heartcatch Mirage’s powers could help Yuri become Cure Moonlight again, but she tells them to look at her Heart Flower, which has wilted. Yuri returns home and the fairies explain how Yuri lost Cologne.

The three Precure and Yuri are called to the botanical gardens again, where Kaoruko uses the Mirage to show them an image of the Heart Tree. Yuri is shocked, as she can see Cologne there. Dark Precure attacks and Tsubomi, Erika and Itsuki go to fight her, while Yuri goes to the Heart Tree to meet Cologne. Cologne is indeed there, though when Yuri attempts to touch him it’s revealed that it is only his spirit and his body is long gone. Yuri apologizes to Cologne, but Cologne says tells her that he knows she had good reasons for what she did and she now knows the value of companions. Their conversation is interrupted when they’re shown the fight between the Precure and Dark Precure, with the Precure losing.

Distraught, Yuri asks the Heart Tree to please allow her to become a Precure again. The Tree accepts. Yuri appears before Dark Precure and transforms into Cure Moonlight. They fight again and in the end, Moonlight gains the upper hand. Before she can finish off Dark Precure, Sabaku appears and takes Dark Precure back with him. Moonlight goes back to the other Precure, who are battling the other Desert Apostles. She easily manages to defeat them. With the battle over, Yuri goes back to talk with Cologne, though it turns out to be the last time. Cologne says goodbye to her and vanishes into light.

Now a team of four, they go back to the Precure Palace not long after this to gain more power. Each Precure had to fight their own self. Yuri’s other self represented her guilt over losing Cologne and the pain she still felt. Yuri accepted this part of her and told the dark version of herself that one day she would turn all that sadness into love, passing the trial. Soon everyone has passed the test but Blossom, though she returns in time to help them fight the Desert Devil, a monster sent by the Desert Apostles.

During Christmas, Dune finally makes his move, effortlessly defeating the Precure. Even Kaoruko, who has temporarily regained her powers as Cure Flower, is defeated. Dune regains the powers he lost when he last fought Cure Flower and takes Kaoruko with him to his fortress. When the Precure recover, they find that the world has been turned into a desert and most of the people have been turned into crystals. A few people turn up, however, including Erika’s sister and Itsuki’s brother. Inspired by the people’s faith in the Precure, they go to Dune’s fortress to stop him once and for all.

They split up into two teams; Cure Marine and Cure Sunshine stay back to fight the Desert Apostles, while Cure Blossom and Cure Moonlight go to rescue Kaoruko. On their way, they come across Dark Precure and Moonlight tells Blossom to go ahead. They start to fight, while Blossom hurries to rescue her grandmother. Kaoruko pleads with Tsubomi not to let Yuri fight Sabaku and Tsubomi quickly returns to Moonlight. Cure Moonlight has gotten the upper hand in her fight and Sabaku attacks her, but is interrupted when Tsubomi attacks him. When he sees that Moonlight is about to finish off Dark Precure, he shields her, which shatters the mask he wears and reveals him to be... Yuri’s father. Dark Precure attacks Cure Moonlight, yelling at her to get away.

Dark Precure is beaten and Yuri runs to her father and embraces him. He reveals that Dark Precure is essentially her younger sister and that he doesn’t deserve her love, as he made the two sisters fight each other. He walks to Dark Precure and hugs her, telling her the fight is over now and continues holding her as she dies and fades away. Dune arrives and a fight breaks out, first with Yuri’s father and then with the two present Precure. Dune blasts them away, forcing Moonlight and Blossom to transform back to their normal forms. He creates a sphere of black energy which is sure to finish them off, but Yuri’s father shields the girls, taking the blast himself, killing him. Yuri completely flips and is only stopped form attacking Dune in her rage by Tsubomi, who tells her not to fight with hate. She manages to calm Yuri down and they transform.

They start to fight Dune again and are soon joined by Marine and Sunshine. They all attack him at once, but don’t manage to defeat him. Instead, Dune just gets angrier and grows to a ridiculous size, about as big as a planet. The girls don’t give up and combine their powers, using the Infinity Silhouette, turning them into a Precure as big as Dune. With this power, they finally beat him.

The worlds returns to normal, the Heart Tree starts to recover and the girls all return to their normal lives.

Personality:
Despite the fact that she’s only a teenager, Yuri is incredibly calm and collected. Very little can break this demeanor, meaning she often ends up being the most mature person in the room. She’s very strict, too, which makes her come across as overly harsh.

Some people might mistake her calmness as her being cold, but Yuri is anything but that. She’s capable of being very gentle and kind, especially when dealing with children. She cares a lot about people and doesn’t wish to see them hurt, though she doesn’t always admit this. She’s fairly blunt when telling people about their faults, almost harshly so, though it’s usually for their own good. Behind every seemingly harsh action usually lies a very well meaning reason, such as when she questions if Tsubomi and Erika actually understand the meaning of being great friends, or when she admonishes Itsuki for not keeping a better eye on Potpourri as she could have lost her fairy.

She has a slightly arrogant attitude, often acting like she knows best, even when she might not. Her intentions are good, as she simply wishes the best for people, but this attitude lead her to lose her fairy partner, Cologne.

Before Yuri regains her powers as Cure Moonlight, she is very melancholic. She has difficulty moving on from her defeat to Dark Precure and her loss of Cologne, as the pain is still fresh. After she gets her powers back, she cheers up significantly. She takes great pride in being a Precure, as she did before she lost to Dark Precure, but without being as arrogant as she was before.

First Person (entry type):
It seems a couple of new Precure have stepped up to replace me. I expected no less, of course. I did send Chypre and Coffret to find them myself and the Heart tree needs to be protected. I know I should be pleased that everything will still be protected now that I am unable to, but... I find it difficult to move on. While I had hoped the new Precure would be stronger and more experienced in combat, they are improving and I can’t fault them for trying.

Still, I can’t help but wish that I could...

...Forgive me, I’m just rambling, please ignore what I said. I’m fine, just reminiscing, so please do not worry. How is everyone else doing today?

Third Person:
It had been nearly a week since her shameful loss against Dark Precure.

It still hurt to look at her broken Precure Seed.

Yuri held the Seed up by it’s chain, dangling it in front of her face. It still glowed sometimes, but none of her attempts to turn into Cure Moonlight had worked. She hadn’t really expected it to. Even if it had worked, what would she possible do? Go out and fight Dark Precure on her own again? Because that had worked out so well.

Tears started to well up in her eyes as she remembered how Cologne had jumped in front of her, how she had held him, how he just vanished like that even though she had been holding on so tight and-

She threw the Precure Seed against the wall and buried her face in her hands. It was useless to keep wallowing in self pity. She would simply have to move on. Forget about everything. The Heart Tree wasn’t her responsibility anymore. She didn’t matter anymore. Whoever would be chosen as the new Precure would just have to fix her mistake instead. It no longer had anything to do with her.

“Yuri, are you up yet?” her mother called. “I’m done making breakfast, so just come to the living room when you’re ready, okay?”

Yuri took a moment to collect herself. She wiped the tears away and put her glasses on. “Of course,” she said, her voice calm and she walked out the door, leaving the Precure Seed lying on the floor. Time to start moving on.
